Welcome to Salt Water Journeys - the beginning of something new

The Journey · 25 October 2026

Who am I?

I’m a 27-year-old girl working as a travel nurse in Scandinavia. This work suits me pretty well as it lets me combine two things I love, my job and the opportunity it gives me to explore new places. I’ve never been the kinda person that likes to stay in the same place for too long. I wanna see new places, meet new people, try different things and above all find the places that makes me feel like life is bigger than just my ordinary day to day life. And somewhere along the way, the ocean became a bigger part of that feeling. I’m drawn to saltwater, the hunt of the best waves and that special feeling not knowing what the next day is gonna offer me. And that feeling turned into a desire to see more of the world and to figure out what kind of life I actually want to build for myself.

So, that’s what brings me here.

Where it all started

It all started four years ago, when me and my friend decided to travel halfway across the world to Costa Rica. I’d found a travel concept where you stayed at a surf camp for two weeks where you lived with people from all over the world. You surfed everyday with the whole group and learned it all from the beginning. In this two weeks we did everything togheter, ate dinner, surfed, explored, met new people and lived by the famous Pura Vida-filosofy. But what i didn’t know at the time was how much this trip was gonna change me.

I still remember those first mornings. Waking up before the sun, grabbing my board under the arm and walking down to the ocean. To paddle out while the sun rose over the horizon and then just being there, in the water, on the wave, in the middle of everything. Feeling like I was right where I was supposed to be. I had never felt more alive. Something had woken up inside me. I realized that there is a completely other way of life than my normal life back at home. A life where you could travel, meet people from across the world, follow the waves and create your own life somewhere else.

And when these two weeks came to an end I had a strong feeling that I don’t wanna go home.

I’d tasted something I couldn’t let go off. I wanted to see more. Travel more. Surf more. Explore more. I wanted to go back to that exact feeling I had every morning when I woke up before the sun and didn’t exactly know what the day was gonna offer me. That’s where my love for the surf began. But more important, where my desire for another kind of life began. Since then, I’ve had a hard time to settle with my old life back at home. Costa Rica became the beginning of a journey that has taken me to some of the most beautiful places across the world and slowly towards a life that feels like my own.

But Costa Rica will always have a special place in my heart and will forever be my favorite place on earth.

And here’s exactly where Salt Water Journeys begin.

Chasing waves, places and a little more freedom

Surfing has become a big part of my life and how I experience the world. There’s something special about traveling somewhere new, finding my way around an unfamiliar place and slowly getting to know it through the ocean. The early mornings, the changing conditions, the waiting in line-up for the waves and the feeling when everything finally comes together.

For me, traveling isn’t just about ticking off a place. It’s about all the experiences in-between, the people you meet, the things you learn and the moments when you feel completely at peace.

And I’m obsessed with these moments.

What is Salt Water Journeys?

I created Salt Water Journeys as a place to document this journey. The places I explore, the waves I chase and the steps I take towards building a life with more freedom.

I’ll share destinations that have left a mark on me, lessons I’ve learned along the way and the practical tips I wish I’d know sooner. I’ll also share the new places I’ve yet to discover, the beautiful sides of traveling and the realities of trying to make it all work.

What’s next?

So, consider this the beginning.

Over the coming months I’ll be sharing stories from some of the places that have shaped me and the journeys that have brought me here. There are old adventures to look back on, places I can’t wait to tell more about and plenty of stories that are still waiting to be written.

And soon, there’s a really big one coming up. I’m heading to Bali for six months with a suitcase, a surfboard and no idea what those six months will actually look like. I’ll be sharing the whole journey here. All the waves, the places, the people, the everyday life, the highs and the lows and everything in-between.

But Salt Water Journeys won’t just be about my own travels. I also want this to be a place for travel inspiration, surf guides, destination tips, practical advice and everything I wish I had known before some of my own adventures.

Thanks for being here, I hope you stick around for the journey. There’s still so much of the world to see and explore, see you out there.

Salt Waters Journeys.
